I first listened to this song in the late seventies on Vividh Bharati and I loved it even then.

I saw the video of the song on youtube some time back and it appears that Sharmila Tagore and Uttam Kumar's characters have just found out that they are going to have a baby. Hope all of you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Shakti Samanta, I believe, was a jubilee director in the sixties and seventies. His other hits include: Amar Prem, Aradhana, Amanush, Kati Patang, Evening in Paris and Kashmir Ki Kali. More about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakti_Samanta.

If I am not wrong, Amanush was remade into the movie Thyagam starring Sivaji Ganesan. The song Dil Aisa Kisi Ne became NallavarkKellam Saatchigal Rendu.

I don't know too much about Uttam Kumar but he seems to have such sad eyes.
