In his approved biography, MSV speaks venerably about Naushad and mentions the impact Naushad's songs had on him as a youngster. He narrates how he wrote a letter to Naushad upon hearing every new Naushad tune praising every nuance of his master compositions.
Years roll by and MSV (V-R) have become a force in TFM. A grand concert is set up in North India where an all star cast of singers accompanies MSV to sing his creations. All the notable North Indian musicians have vowed to attend, but MSV is most keen on meeting Naushad. The concert people promise him that arrangements will be made to meet Naushad.
The concert goes on great and they honor MSV, the singers, and the troupe during the program. Then a distinguished looking older gentleman is ushered to the stage. The man carries with him a bag that looks stuffed heavy with paper. He empties the bag in the middle of the stage and hundreds of opened letters come pouring out. The man introduces himself to the stage musicians and the audience as Naushad and says the letters he had preserved all these years were from MSV. He goes on to heap praises on MSV, stating that MSV's songs are filled with life and spirit. Naushad then sends a single song request which PBS reads and interprets to MSV. That song, ladies and gentlemen is today's SOTD.
I have read that in some circles, before attaining a certain rank, monks were made to summarize their life's learning in a haiku. This song has the potency of such a life defining haiku. Imagine setting every great haiku to music by V-R and having SirgAzhi sing them. That would be giving bliss a shape and form.
