I recently got an mp3 collection of Jai hits. Listening to this collection, I'm realizing that MSV has used a unique style of mellisai for Jai soundtracks, bringing out his accordion, brass section, drums, and strings with unorthodox tunes. The SOTD's charaNams take you home a little bit, but before you bask in the familiar, the song hops to the pace and beat of the swift pallavi. I'm betting that the tune came first for this song.

TMS seems to be in a cavalier mood on many of these songs including the SOTD. PS brings a furtive lightness to the song filled with the youth and mischief hinted by the movie title. Kannadhaasan throws enough curves into this narrow sandham, especially some of the line endings are inimitably Kannadhaasan's syntax. It builds with surprises and lands in a very familiar place making you go, "Oh!".
