Song: indru vandha intha mayakkam
Film: kasEthaan kadavuladaa
Singers: P.Suseela
MD: M.S.Viswanathan
Lyrics: Vaali
Typical of his experimental B-movie forays, MSV creates a combination platter of sounds here. Do the bongos ever sound this complex and fluid in anyone else's use? You would have to raid Cuban jazz archives for it. The high pitched flute, the flexing accordion, strings, and horns come and go. Vaali's lyrics hop, skip, and jump with youthful energy, "pattu mEni pandhu pOla athuLLa, nee pakkam vandhu aLLavENdum mella".
PS comes out dancing in LRE's shoes. The way she bites down on "mayakkammmmm" or the way she articulates a catalog of emotions inside a two syllable word, "thuLLa" you wish that she had gotten another 100 songs like this. But typecasting has been the bane of so many artists and PS is no exception. Nevertheless, I didn't come here to pontificate, I came to party and you're all welcome to join in.
