Song: yaaradi vandhaar
Film: vAnambAdi
Singer: L.R.Eswari
MD: K.V.Mahadevan
Lyrics: Kannadhasan
I believe vAnambAdi was a Kannadhasan production and one of the few of those illfated ones that made some money. I haven't seen it but always thought of it as a Suseela vehicle, for the often played "thookkanaangkuruvikkoodu" and "gangaikkaraithoattam". Little did I know that this LRE treasure was hidden in it. I have been discovering a lot of gems from this LRE mp3 that I bought and doubtless none of the songs are given with their respective movie names. The more I listen to this though, the more it outshines the rest of the soundtrack, and that's a big deal for me, a second-to-none Suseela fan.
Mama enters with a muscular harmonium sound followed by a tabla drum roll and then dazzles with seductive strings that wave and furl like a fan dancer (indha thennavan kaiyilE andha sArangi enna vaazhkai vaazhgiRathu! mAtRaan thOttaththu malligai nanRaagavE maNakkiRathu ingu) as the tabla hovers beneath like a fussy pet. LRE just glides and owns the stage like the Diva that she is. Kannadhasan shows up as the teasing friend with the knowing questions and roots the song locally with his words while Mama travels the North Indian dance halls musically. If you haven't heard this one, don't deprive yourself any longer.
