Song: Face of Love
Film: Dead Man Walking
Singers: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Eddie Vedder
MD: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Eddie Vedder & David Robbins
Lyrics: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Eddie Vedder
Viewing "Dead Man Walking" was an emotional undertaking to say the least. But the soundtrack and score put together by David Robbins, brother of director Tim Robbins, was equally impressive with its eclectic musicians and their spiritual and political lament. Since we have featured exemplary works in other languages as SOTD, here's another such rarity.
Here we have two titans of the east and west in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the celestial Pakisthani singer and the grunge pioneer Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam fame. Both Vedder's and Khan's voices blend beautifully and exist in a higher plane above language, culture, and human differences.
The lyrics are given below:
jeena kaisa pyar bina [what is life without love?]
is duniya mein aaye ho to [now that you have come to this world]
ek duje se pyar karo [love each other, one another]
jeena kaisa pyar bina [what is life without love?]
is duniya mein aaye ho to [now that you have come to this world]
ek duje se pyar karo [love each other, one another]
look in the eyes
of the face of love
look in her eyes
oh, there is peace
no, nothing dies
within pure light
only one hour
of this pure love
to last a life
of thirty years
only one hour
so come and go
