I happened to hear this instrumental around the time Venkat was writing his wonderful Jazz series in dhooL and the idea of this track rivaling the best of Jazz jam sessions wasn't lost on me. I've never heard a nadhaswaram instrumental quite like this one and it was an easy guess that only a genius like Karaikurichi Arunachalam could bring this fluidity and grace to such a majestic instrument. The great Subbiah Naidu splurges on his riches here with a tour-de-force composition. I can't think of anything better to commemorate the fabulous musical journey dhooL has made in getting to the 800th song milestone. We thank all our contributors and well wishers who have made our daily indulgence in music appreciation a joyful group activity. May we unearth more gems, pay more homage, and gain more appreciation for our magnificent legacy in Tamil Film Music and beyond.
