Song: oorukkellam ore saami from aalukkoru veedu.
Singers: Jamunarani, LRE & chorus
MD: Viswanathan-Ramamurthy.
Lyrics: Pattukkoattai Kalyanasundaram
Aalukkoru Veedu (1960/ Subhash Movies) had Satyan, L.Vijayalakshmi, Malati and others in the cast. Okay, okay, don't be shocked by this sudden burst of memory, I got all the song info from Saravanan. The title, Aalukkoru Veedu might just be the promise for the next election, but then I digress.
After searching long and hard for a decent-yet-obscure devotional themmAngu, I finally net this one. Pattukkoattaiyaar infuses his socialistic ideals in this egalitarian devotional. I thought PK was an atheist, but he fares fine here blending his message with the song's nature and genre without any gaffes. It brought to mind atheist Vairamuthu's faith-neutral historical and literary approach to songs that tackled divinity. Here again, I digress...
Viswanathan-Ramamurthy let the tune flow like an unbridled creek. With sirens like Jamunarani and LRE after her, the goddess just might grant the bequest. I've stalled you long enough. Now, on with the song.
