Song of the Day: sugamaana sindhanaiyil from Taxi Driver.
- Sung by SPB, S.Janaki and chorus. Music by MSV. Lyrics by Kannadasan.
- I heard this wonderful song after a long time today. I think it is set in Sarasaangi. SJ sounds a lot like Vani Jayaram in this song.
- idhu rajagOpura dheepam from Taxi Driver was posted earlier in SOTD here: http://www.dhool.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1864 .It led to a good discussion on the film itself. To summarize the discussion, Taxi Driver starred Jaishankar and Sridevi. All 4 songs in the film were duets with SPB. Apart from the two mentioned earlier, "Shanthi my holy angel" is a famous song.
Apparently, the film was noted for Sridevi's "beauty" revealed, at least according to what we see here: http://www.geocities.com/sdvgl1/taxi.html .OISG wrote that Jaishankar had to wear belts like what Sivaji wore, and his choice of wig must have been by his sworn enemy :)
