Director Sridhar passed away after prolonged illness. There are no words to describe his contribution to TFM.
Let His soul rest in peace.

Sathyakka, I just saw the news on TV. It was heartrending to watch MSV break down.

Sridhar was a pathbreaking pioneer whose works are timeless testomonials to his genius. May his soul rest in peace!

Saravana
I also saw MSV bursting down and choking with sorrow. A great loss to Tamil film industry! It was sad to see him physically suffer after stroke. After his prolonged illness, God has been kind to take his physical being. My condolences to his wife Devasena who took care of him all these years.

First of all why there is no link to this posting in the mainpage of Dhool I cannot fathom.

It took saravanan to send me alink for me to find this post. By this time I had already vented my feelings in a couple of other forums/blogs.

The crux is that sridhar was the first "super star" director whose name preceeded the movie name in the hoardings as well as the titles.
He was a pioneer in realising that cinema was a visual medium ( with Vincent many of his early movies had wonderful visuals) he could do a melodrama, comedy, action ,thriller with equal ease.
His music sense was legendary . His movies bar a couple had outstanding music be it with AM Raja,Visu-Ramu, Visu, Ilayaraja or even a Vijayabaskar or SPB.
while the end was not unexpected but it is still sad that he is no more amongst us.
May be I should write about my experiences with Sridhar as a lay viewer .

Dear Saravanan,
After a long gap, at last I could retrieve my internet connection. This gap made me to make a belated entry and with what a cost! Our legendary Director Sridhar had passed away. TFM missed a lot in Sridhar who had brought in the best with the help of Mellisai Mannar. Almost all of his films had superhit songs. But unfortunately, my favourite songs from O Manju, is hardly played in any of the so called FMs or for that matter even in AIR. The song salanam, avanum avalum, both are simply classics to the core. No body can ever imagine such a composition. Great
Can we have the chance to hear the songs of O Manju?
Raghavendran.
