"Vidhata talapuna" - a song that breathed fresh air into telugu lyrics in the beautiful music of K.V. Mahadevan. The movie sirivennela became so popular that the lyricist Sita rama sastry changes his name to Sirivennala. I do not understand telugu well, but the song is loaded with many sanskrit words which I could understand.

The tamil version of the movie was a flop I guess. The song vidhata talapuna was re-rendered as vidhadha ninavinil. The lyrics followed the telugu original both in words and content religiously - one of the banes of dubbing. The lyrics are in the maNipravaaLam style of language where many words are borrowed from Sanskrit.

However the compositional splendour of KVM and sweetness and fluidity of SPB and Susheela make this song a must hear. Not to forget the flute of HAriprasad Chaurasia.

Thanks for the information on the original, I'll have to hunt it down. Mama is perfectly in his semi-classical groove. The singers show their due diligence, but alas...I wish this was the original Telungu version.

The SOTD lyrics sound like someone reading a sanskrit book, a book that is decidedly anti-rhyme to boot. I'm not a proponent of end rhymes in every 3rd line, but what the hell is this? Nothing jells. Not one phrase stuck with me. The words slipped by like water through the fingers. Before the next line could begin I forgot the line being sung!

Beautiful pick. Though I am ardent fan of KVM, I still wonder how mama could bring a melody of this beauty! Completely off-beat from mama. He had never handled Sudha dhanyasi this stunning ever before! Probably IR's influence? Was there anybody other than TKP behind the compositions of this film? Even the other "Thanga vennila vaa" is superb.
PS very impressive in these songs.

Other than KVM's Kalaimagal enakkoru AnaiyittAL I cannot figure out his any other song even from his devotionals a Sudha dhanyasi of this kind. H Chaurasia perhaps had suggested Dhani.

Chaurasia's flute and the initial விருத்தம் by SPB (sung with typical SPB Brighas )are beautiful. As the song progresses the song moves into predictable patterns and the bumpy lyrics robs whatever was left. The telugu origianl could been tried.

The Tamil remake of the song somehow sounds sweeter to me than the Telangu original. For a rarity SP Subramanyam is smoother here than in the original version!
