The malayalam song featured today shopwcases the brilliance of M.G.Sreekumar. He is one singer who has established himself well out of KJY's dominant shadow. Malayalam composers have always resorted to KJY when it comes to songs which have very quick classical swara phrases. In female singers, chitra rules the roost. Sreekumar came of age in the song - "naadha roopiNi" when raveendran pressed him to sing kaanada in a tight tongue smashing way. His confidence in MGS was vindicated when MGS won the national award for that song ahead of the stellar numbers of KJY in the same movie. MGS has grown in stature from then. Much before naadha roopiNi MGS had done an admirable job in Chitram delivering "Swaminatha paripaalayasumam" under the baton of kaNNur rajan. Berny Ignatius and other music directors were convinced by his talent and have since then offered many classically difficult and challenging songs. This song from chandralekha is a real stunner in the middle passages. The swara phrases go at a break neck speed. And once again MGS has lived upto his reputation.

I witnessed him live in Atlanta and he was simply brilliant in live performances too. A very approachable person and an excellent host on stage.

Wonderful choice BB?

I always liked Sree Kumar, the KJY Veriyars hated him and tried their best to bring him down. Sure not in the league of KJY, he is still a very good singers
