intha pAttellAm nAn kEttadhE illaiyE ! Please, please, why dont you start an LRE thodar (serial). PLEASE. PLEASE.
Very nicely said about LRE-PBS, how they complement each other. I remember using the same phrase 'PBS provides perfect foil to LRE's vivaciousness' in this very forum (or was it TFM ?).
Very right about being LRE under-rated. And that comparison to Asha B. Wel Asha is certainly a better trained singer, much more versatile, but where LRE scores is in the area of NATURAL exuberance, vivaciousness, free-spiritedness in a very INNOCENT way. Asha cannot show any innocence whatsoever even if she tries and she is a good actress (with the voice) but not always natural. It is unfair to compare singers, each one's music is as individual as one's personality is, but just pointing out differences.
Lots people might laugh at me for using the word 'innocence' on cabaret songs, but that is about stereo-typing.
LRE is one of the most natural singers that I have heard. I would sort of put Geeta Dutt and LRE in the same category. Both are just so genuine which is why they sound so convincing in both pathos and exuberance.
Another nice song - pattuchiragu koNda, from karuppu paNam, with ALR.
