ak, Guest,ncumar,Kitkat : Thanks to all .
While thinking to write about CVS, I had thought of AOM initially. The great melodies of Mellisai mannar in AOM are widely available as CD and the movie has come out in original DVD. As Mythila pointed out , this album was the most elusive one to get. That was the reason I opted for this film.
I am glad there is one more fan for the SJ song "oomai peNNai". When the film was released, I remember seeing the posters pasted near our school. The cinema notice in different colors of yellow, orange and green was being issued from a cart going along our street. My younger brother got a few notices. I still remember that bit notice of Alaigal. The film was gone in the next 2 days. That was the fate of the film! Later in 80s I was able to record the songs in a casette shop but they were all incomplete fading out. All these years I have beenin search of this film and finally this January I was able to find one VCD lying in a box in a remote corner shop in Madurai.
Thanks for your appreciation. When I bought the VCD,Kannadasan's poem was a pleasant surprise for me. Though Kannadasan has appeared in front of the camera for songs like "oru kOppaiyilE".."paramasivan kazhuththilirunthu", it was a rare occurence to hear him recite a poem in a film. That was a real treat.
Undoubtedly "ponnenna' was the best one by PJ. He sang 2 songs that year "thanga simizh pOl ithazhO" in Manip payal and "ponnenna" in Alaigal- both under MSV. This song marked yhe beginning of his career in TFM.
