 A few years back I happened to go along the way of Kayatharu, the place where Kattabomman was hanged. Except for the statue (courtesy: Sivaji Ganesan, whose face it totally resembled) the place had nothing about it bearing semblance of a historical figure or event. Ironically, near the opening of the gateway to the Statue, a couple of shops were there, selling Cola, Pepsi etc. What a tribute to the historical personality who lost his life opposing Colonisation!
