
Ira Hauptman is an assistant professor in the Department of Drama, Theatre
and Dance at Queens College, New York. His plays have been performed in New York at the Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Manhattan Theatre Club; in Los Angeles at the Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theatre, Moving Arts and Odyssey; and in San Francisco at the Exploratorium through the Magic Theatre. Partition was commissioned by Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in New York and was produced by the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley; the Theatre du Rideau in Brussels; and The Little Theatre of Bangalore. Its first reading was at FirstStage in Hollywood.The themes of Partition include the clash of eastern and western cultures,
